Happy Thanksgiving

I hope everyone had an amazing Thanksgiving. We had a house full of family and it was wonderful. A little crazy but a lot of fun. It was a super busy week and weekend. Today is the first day I have had a second to do anything that wasn't Thanksgiving or Birthday party related. I haven't even put the Christmas tree up yet and that makes me sad.

Let's recap our crazy week:
My last post was Monday and you can read that here. Tuesday was a pretty calm day at the house with Pawpaw and the boys. The highlight of the day was Caleb puking his lunch up all over me right after I got out of the shower. Fun stuff! Needless to say I didn't get my carpets cleaned or pictures up on the wall until Wednesday. But it did get done. (Thanks to my in-laws for helping me hang up pictures)
My sweet mother-in-law, Sandy, and I baked for Thursday. She made Buttermilk Pies and I made Pumpkin Pies and a Pecan Pie Cobbler. I absolutely love Pumpkin Pie and am so glad my sweet cousin/best friends hubby, Dan, gave me his super secret recipe! It's the best! That evening I sent everyone out for dinner so I could get the carpet cleaned before the rest of our family arrived that night. And, of course, they did show up right as I was in the middle of cleaning the floors. But it worked out ok. They were even impressed with how well my steam cleaner works. (I was too, I honestly had forgotten how amazing it is!) Thursday, one of the days we wait all year for, was pretty smooth considering it can get super crazy. This is the 5th year J and I have hosted Thanksgiving. And for the past two years I have had a newborn. So, this was my first time in a while to really be involved in all of the fun stuff. J bought a smoker earlier this year so we decided to smoke the turkey. That freed up my oven which was great! The cooking went pretty smoothly and we ate a late lunch/early dinner. Everything was perfect. My dad was even able to join us. Later on I was able to Facetime with my brothers which was a great way to end the day. Friday, my sweet Seth turned two. My brother-in-law and his family had planned to go to the zoo so we joined them. Seth is at that age where he is learning his animal names and sounds. He loved it! It was a special treat for him on his special day.  Caleb, poor little guy, just hung out in his stroller most of the day but he was really good and seemed to just enjoy being outside. We ended our zoo trip with a ride on the train and that was probably Seth's favorite part of the entire day. We went home for naps and then out to dinner with the whole family at our most favorite place, La Hacienda Ranch. (yummy, delicious Tex-Mex)

So,  here are random pictures from the week put into collages because it was hard to narrow it down to a few and it could have gotten out of hand quickly!

Another failed attempt at a pic with my boys~I should just give up!
With all of that said, I just need to say how blessed I truly am. We have an amazing supportive family. I have a wonderful husband who loves me through all of my craziness, two incredible little boys, and a God who is giving, forgiving and always there. Thanksgiving is about being thankful for what you have and I have a lot to be thankful for.

Drowning

I have a lot going on. I really don't feel like I am ready to talk about it but let's just say it's overwhelming, suffocating, heavy and hard to verbalize. I feel like that is all I can say for now. I have been reading this morning  for encouragement and guidance, as well as finishing up a few posts about birthdays and Thanksgiving. You may get 3 posts today if you're lucky.

Here are a few quotes I have found that have touched my heart today:

"When you feel like you're drowning in your own problems, do not worry for your life guard walks on water."  ~Unknown

"Take risks and Conquer your fears." ~Unknown

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.“ ~Matthew 11:28-30
And one of my ALL time favorites:

Under Pressure

I am still working on my post for Caleb's first birthday. I started writing on Thursday and had to stop. I couldn't see because of all the tears. It's almost impossible to put those feelings into words. I will finish it this week, I promise.

A quick weekend recap:
Friday night J and I went out for dinner and drinks. My mom was able to come over and watch the boys for a few hours for us. It was so nice to get a little adult time. I had one hell of day on Friday. I'm talking, I didn't get out of my pj's until 6:30 (pm) when I went to shower for dinner. But the day ended on a good note.
Saturday was a "me" day. I had a date with the girls to watch Breaking Dawn Part 2. I am a huge "Twilight" fan. I wasn't until after the first movie. I then read the books. I have re-read the whole series at least 3 times. (I am a big book worm) Last year, when Part 1 was released, I had a newborn. So I didn't get to see the movie until it came out on DVD. I was not missing opening weekend this time around! I told J that I would even go by myself if I had to. Luckily, my good friend, B, had a little girls "Brunch/Movie Date" planned. We met up at BJ's Brewhouse for lunch (and a kid free cerveza) and then headed over to the theatre. Let me just say, "OMG!!!", the movie was awesome. I can't wait to see it again. After the movie I grabbed some Chinese food and headed home to the family. Once the boys were in bed I continued working on birthday party decor. I swear I am going to be working on it the morning of the party. I started about 3 weeks ago but just can't get it done! (part of why I am under pressure).
Sunday, we were up early. We had to meet B for a re-shoot of our Holiday pictures. Yes, I said re-shoot. We had our first session last Saturday. She got one good family pic of us. ONE!!!!! I knew it was going to be that way, too. Seth is just at that age where he will not cooperate for anything. He ran around like a kid with ants in his pants. He wouldn't stop, he wouldn't look at the camera, he was completely out of control. The minute we got in the car I said, "what a disaster!" Poor B, luckily she has one Seth's age so she knows how it is. Yesterday was a little better. We kind of just let him run around and took candid shots. Caleb was more of a pill yesterday. I still haven't heard the verdict though. I think I am done taking pics of the boys until they are older. Except for the annual birthday pics. It will be a good 2 or 3 years before I try to get "family" pics done again. I kind of feel like I'm wasting my money. We went to breakfast at an old favorite of ours in Arlington. Delicious Mexican food. The good stuff. Growing up with a grandma who made the most amazing Mexican food ever has really spoiled me. I am very particular. But this place was on point, as usual. My afternoon was filled with a 2 hour trip to Wal-Mart, a run to Target, and a ton of cleaning, organizing, and decorating. Anyone hate white walls? I do. J would have plain white walls if I would let us. He hates to hang up pictures. I forced him to do it last night. I am still not done hanging pictures though.
Today, my wonderful in-laws and Pawpaw will be coming into town for the week. I still have to clean up my guest room, hang pictures, and clean the carpet. All while chasing after my two wild children. And at some point I have to finish the birthday party decorations.
Caleb~just chillin' on the school bus

First bubble gum ball~it had to be blue!

Doesn't that look better?
With all that being said, I better get off of this computer and get to work. Have a great Monday!

This one's for you Holly

It's really for me but I like the title!

Ok, I just read this blog post. Needless to say, it was a BIG kick in the pants...in a good way. I struggle. I struggle a lot with a lot of things. (helpful, I know)

But here it is...
It's 9:45 pm. J is out of town tonight. Caleb has been in bed for about 2 hours. Seth is currently in his bed screaming. I have had a very unproductive day. I didn't exercise. I ate way too much Halloween candy. I had a Dr Pepper. I also had a quarter pounder for dinner. I did shower-so that a positive! I swear I have been battling illness for damn near a month and it's killing me! My house is a disaster. Like, I'm talking a tornado (named Seth/Caleb) completely destroyed every room & bathroom in my house today. Seth is still screaming. My carpet is filthy and I have to get it cleaned before next week. Seth stopped screaming for a second, I coughed, and he started screaming again. Let's talk about that for a second.

For the last two or three weeks Seth has pretty much refused to go to bed. Our routine is usually bath around 7:30 and bed by 8:30. He likes to get in our bed after his bath and watch cartoons. That is totally ok with us. But now he when we go to put him in his room he fights it. Cries, kicks, screams, throws his blankie and paci out of his bed...... What's the deal? Anyone? He will be two next week. Is it the age? If we are lucky enough to get him down in his own bed by about 3 am he has woken up screaming and we just put him in bed with us. I am praying that it's the age but I will be asking the doctor at his 2 year check up in a couple of weeks.

And the screaming stopped! Well, I am gonna wrap this up because I have a house I need to clean and muffins to bake for my sweet Caleb's first birthday tomorrow! I can't believe my baby is one. I will have a very special post about my baby hopefully tomorrow afternoon.

Here are a couple of pics of my sweet babes though...

Birthday Pics

I scheduled the boys birthday pics almost 3 months ago. With their birthdays being in November we have to compete with everyone wanting Holiday pics. So, I emailed Heather of Cute and Classy Photography so she could get us on the books early.

Now, in order to do pictures right, the boys needed birthday shirts and for me to be able to buy birthday shirts I needed to decided on a theme for their birthday party. Why is this so difficult? I think part of my problem is that I have 2 boys that are not twins! So, to me, it's not one birthday party. It's a joint birthday party for two separate occasions. I went back and forth....Mickey Mouse, Planes~Trains~Automobiles, barn yard. I just couldn't make a decisions. I search Etsy for hours and hours trying to find that one thing to inspire me and I finally ran across this. It was simple, boyish, she could ship it within 2 days, and it was affordable. What I loved most though was I could worry about a "theme" later. I also needed a nicer outfit for each of them to take pictures in. Luckily, I already had a few things in the closet so I just had to match them up.

We met Heather down in the Stockyards on Sunday afternoon. It was a beautiful day, perfect for outdoor pictures. Our fall has been unusually warm but I'm not complaining. My goal was to get individual pics and both boys together. I just wanted ONE good one of the two of them. Seth is nightmare when it comes to taking pictures. Everyone keeps telling me that it's his age and it will get better. I sure hope they're right. Seth just wanted to run around, climb on everything, and not look at the camera. Caleb was a breeze compared to big brother. J went with us, I couldn't handle it on my own, but he had no idea how to help. In the end it didn't matter. Heather is so great at what she does that she was able to capture some amazing shots of both of them.

And the only way we were able to get them both to sit down and stay still was to break out the cake.

Their birthdays are not for a few more weeks but keep an eye out for the Party Post.

Happy Halloween....A week Late

Better a week late than never, right?

The boys actually got to wear their costumes on Tuesday and Wednesday last week. Day School allowed them to dress up for a "costume parade" and a small party. I was able to snap a few pictures before we left for school and when I dropped them off.

Caleb was a cute little skunk. Yes, it was a hand me down costume of big brothers. But he rocked it all his own! On Halloween night, as we passed out candy out front, he would waddle around and he looked just like a real little critter.

Seth was a cow. Not a Chick-fil-A cow, just a regular ole farm cow that likes to say "moo". He loves to make animal sounds, moo, baa, oink oink, quack quack...so we had several options to choose from. But when I saw the cow costume at Target, I sent a pic over to J, and we agreed it was perfect! Seth couldn't quite say "trick or treat" so at the few houses we did visit we would just ask him "what does the cow say?" and he would very sweetly reply, "mooooo!" It was adorable. I wouldn't say he loved trick or treating but he did love running around outside, eating loads of candy, and staying up past his bedtime.

It was a fun night for everyone. Next year, Seth will be old enough to have a say in his costume and I think that is going to be so much fun. And Caleb will not get big brothers hand me down again.

I hope you all enjoyed your Halloween! Come back tomorrow for my post about our Birthday Pictures photo session.

Fall Fun

Well, I am playing catch up. I considered going straight on to Halloween but then I remembered our trip to the Pumpkin Patch.

Our boys are still a bit too small to really enjoy outings like this. It's more for me and the few photo ops I can score. But it was nice to have J with us this year. Last year he was working like a mad man and missed out on the pumpkin patch trip. It was also nice to not be 8 1/2 months pregnant.
Pumpkin Patch 2011

Seth loves to be outside. I swear I hear "side, side" a zillion times a day. So this was like Disney World to him. He was even brave enough to ride the little tractor pulled train. (I was so proud!)

Caleb is still not fully walking yet so he got to spend most of his time in the stroller but he seemed to enjoy himself. He is such a laid back and easy going kid. (except when it comes to sleeping, but that an entirely separate post)

It was a fun afternoon complete with hot dogs, snow cones, and the inevitable meltdown that led to a quite car ride home!

Sorry I've been MIA

I know, I know....it's been over two weeks since  I last posted anything and my last post really wasn't anything good. I am sure you all have those days, weeks, months where you feel like you just can't accomplish anything. I feel like that has been my entire month of October. (not completely true, but that's how it feels) We have been so busy this month and I know it's only going to get a lot crazier around the Sarchet house as we head into November. (family pictures, 2 birthdays, Thanksgiving, and lots of family in town) At least y'all have lots of fun reading to look forward to starting with Halloween and Birthday pics.
