I Can See the Light

I pray I am not speaking too soon....but I think I may actually see the light at the end of this "sick" tunnel. You know the saying "when it rains, it pours"? Well, it's been raining from all orifices of both my boys. I know, that's gross, but I have been living it. I have washed more bed sheets and blankets in the last 10 days than I would normally wash in a year. Plus a half dozen loads of little boys laundry. I have cleaned carpets, Lysoled every inch of my house and have been taking extra greens to keep myself healthy. Poor Caleb, that kid just can't catch a break. I sure hope this is the beginning of the end of all of his troubles.

Now, I am looking forward to February. I am going to start Couch to 5k. I have been doing a lot better with my eating habits. I just have to get moving. I am not a runner, yet! I have never been athletic. I didn't play any sports. I was a cheerleader, on the pom squad and in the marching band. I guess you have to have some athletic ability to do those things. I am hoping that once I start this program though that I will fall in love with running like a lot of you have. You all inspire me to just put my feet to the pavement and see what happens. I have been looking into 5ks. I think the best motivation would be to just register for one so I know that I have to train for it. (yes, I just said train for a 5k) I really don't know that I could run a mile right now so I have a lot of "training" to do! Anyway, if any of you DFW peeps have suggestions on races send me an email or leave me a comment.

Here are some phone pics of what's been going on in the Sarchet house for the past week.....notice there are lots of cuddling pics. That is probably the only thing I like about having sick boys-they love to snuggle with their momma!

Any advice on C25K? Running shoes? Help a girl out here-I am a total newbie!


  1. I've never done the c25k. Gasp! Ha! I just would run as far as I could and walk. Rinse and repeat. As far as shoes best advice go get properly fitted at a running shoe store. They know there stuff and can steer you in the right direction. As hard as it is dont worry about what they look like. I love me some cute shoes but suffered through the fugly colors and was glad.

  2. I'm glad they're getting better! I am excited that you're gonna be doing the C25K! I bought some Brooks lightweight shoes yesterday. I really liked a pair that offered more stability but they felt much heavier to me. I'll keep you updated on how these work for me.

  3. I am so happy they are getting better. My son has been sick for the last week as well. It is tough, I haven't tried couch to 5 k but am looking into it

    I also highly recommend going to a running store to get fitted for shoes!
    Shelling outthemoney now is worth enduring any injury from inadequate shoes!!
    I'm a Brooks girl, but get fitted to see what will work best for you!!

  5. I'm glad it's looking up. I highly suggest going to a runnin store and getting "fitted" for shoes! Best thing ever for my 250ish pound frame!
